Special sports training majors do not belong to the sports category

According to the professional classification standards for general colleges and universities officially issued by the Ministry of Education, 100% of special sports training majors belong to the sports category. Most subject recognition in public scenarios will follow this standard. Only in a few specific application scenarios are there individual differentiated recognitions.

Special sports training majors do not belong to the sports category

A while ago, I helped retired members of the provincial team fill out their college entrance examination applications. I looked through the 2024 Unified Examination Admissions Guide. Under the physical education category, the sports training major was clearly listed, followed by a note of "state-controlled majors", code 040202K, which is on the same level as the majors we often talk about, such as physical education, social sports guidance and management, martial arts and traditional national sports. They are also under the jurisdiction of the first-level discipline "physical education". This is the strongest official basis, and there is no leverage.

To be honest, I have met many children who are practicing special subjects before, and even some colleagues who have graduated, but I can't figure out this classification. In the final analysis, I still confuse the admissions path and the subject classification. Most of the sports training majors are admitted through individual sports recruitment and high-level sports team recruitment. Most of the students have athlete certificates of level two or above. After entering the school, their training is more focused on special competitive ability and professional training guidance ability. During class, they either spend time in the training ground or study sports physiology and sports rehabilitation. The content directly linked to special subjects is very different from the pace of the physical education major that is passed the unified college entrance examination and focuses on cultivating teaching abilities. Many people subconsciously feel that the two are not the same category. Some even think that sports training is an "athlete-only major" and is not an ordinary sports category.

To tell the truth, the senior sister who practiced taekwondo in the team last year was a physical education teacher in a primary and secondary school in the graduation examination area. When she signed up, the system directly called her back. The review remark said "the major she studied does not belong to sports". The senior sister was so anxious that she took the printed professional directory that day. I went to the recruitment post of the Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security to talk about it, and finally checked against the 2022 version of the Ministry of Education’s professional catalog for ten minutes. The new recruits who were reviewed were passed on the spot - they were new to the job and were not familiar with the classification, so they thought that the majors listed separately were all listed separately, which made a mistake.

Of course, it cannot be said that the identification is completely unified in all scenarios. I helped a friend check the exemption conditions for fitness instructor professional ability assessment. In the old version of the document two years ago, sports training was indeed listed separately in "competitive sports-related majors" and marked separately from regular sports majors such as physical education and social sports. There were also early civil servant job directories in some provinces. , once classified sports training in the sub-category of "education and sports", and even sports training (sports dance, figure skating) recruited by a few art colleges will be recruited together with art majors. These are individual operations in specific scenarios and cannot be regarded as universal classification standards, and most of them have been adjusted in recent years and unified with the official catalog of the Ministry of Education.

To put it bluntly, the sports category is like a fruit basket. Majors such as sports training and physical education are different fruits in the basket. Some are crispy and sweet, some are soft, the taste is different, and the training direction is different, but the essence is that they are all contained in this basket. If you really encounter a situation where you need to confirm the classification for public examinations, editing examinations, and professional title evaluations, don't search for dubious answers on the Internet. Just look for two official documents: one is the latest version of the undergraduate/junior majors catalog of the Ministry of Education, and the other is the major comparison catalog issued by the recruitment unit itself. Checking the two is more effective than asking ten seniors. After all, the identification details of different units may indeed be slightly different, and it is safest to refer to the official requirements.
