Five misunderstandings about practicing Pilates

By:Eric Views:562

Lie 1: The best yoga hands must have amazing body flexibility

Fact: What yoga masters compete for is "sense of balance", "mental peace and stability" and "mental clarity". It is not a competition to see who can bend the body into an arch bridge, or see who can put the head between the legs. If you pursue this blindly, you will always be just a layman in yoga.

Lie 2: Practicing Pilates can lengthen muscles and increase height.

Fact: Give up this fantasy! The length of your muscles doesn't change once you mature. All Pilates can do is help you stretch those muscles that haven't been fully stretched yet. However, it is undeniable that practicing Pilates can improve the flexibility of the body and cultivate the correct standing posture with chest and head raised, which can indeed make you look "taller".

Lie 3: Pilates will make you lose weight

Fact: I'm sorry to tell you that this is a lie. Unless you are already a very advanced Pilates practitioner, the calories burned by simply practicing Pilates are far from enough to help you lose fat.

Lie 4: A strong back is healthy back

Fact: The vast majority of back injuries occur due to sudden muscle pulls and incorrect mat movement, not because your back is not strong enough. If you have a strong "inverted triangle back" that always gets injured during twisting or weight lifting exercises, sorry, it can only be said that it is not as healthy as you look.

Lie 5: If you have a bad back, try to do as little exercise as possible

Fact: Just like a machine will rust if it is inactive, doing some exercises such as brisk walking is very good for the recovery of the lower back. These exercises are not high intensity but can make many muscles in the back recover. exercise , and can reduce the pressure on the spine, allowing the fragile back to recover as soon as possible.
