At present, the domestic sports industry generally divides the core practitioners related to special sports skills into six categories, namely special coaches who are deeply involved in the teaching and guidance of the project, registered athletes with the competitive level qualification of the project, special referees with official referee qualifications, special rehabilitation (sports protection) divisions responsible for the prevention and emergency treatment of sports injuries, special field operation and maintenance engineers who ensure that the project venue equipment meets the standards, and special event operations specialists who coordinate the entire process of the project event activities.

When I helped in the youth sports training camp under the Provincial Sports Bureau two years ago, these six types of people were the core for the smooth operation of the entire camp. If any link was missing, there would be trouble. Take the rock climbing camp at that time as an example. The coaches who led the training all had obtained the National Intermediate Rock Climbing Instructor Certificate and were all national rock climbers at Level 2 or above. There was no need to worry about the professionalism of daily teaching. The small exchange competitions arranged during the camp were judged by national rock climbing referees, and the penalty standards were completely aligned with the official domestic competitions. The resident rehabilitation therapist on the sidelines specialized in outdoor extreme sports injuries. Last time, a child had a slight bruise on his forearm. Injuries can be dealt with in two minutes and he can also give instructions for follow-up training; before starting the camp every day, the masters of the venue operation and maintenance have to check the firmness of the rock points and the wear degree of the protective ropes one by one, and even the placement of the protective pads adheres to safety standards; not to mention the little girl who runs the event, from the registration grouping of the contestants to the issuance of certificates after the game, even the waiting area for parents to watch is clearly arranged, and there is no flaw in the entire camp period.

However, there are many different opinions on this classification in the industry. For example, many sports science bloggers feel that the first entry point for many ordinary people to come into contact with special sports is various science popularization contents. For example, ski science popularizers at Bilibili and Frisbee teaching bloggers on Xiaohongshu also have special skills. Qualifications, and also undertake the function of project promotion, should be divided into a separate category; many sports rehabilitation scholars in universities believe that the work contents of special rehabilitation specialists and sports protection specialists are actually different. The former focuses on recovery after injury, while the latter focuses on pre-game prevention and in-game emergency response, and should be split into two categories. However, the current mainstream classification of six categories is more in line with the current qualification assessment system of the State Sports General Administration. These six categories of personnel have clear official level certification standards, clear entry thresholds, and clearer division of rights and responsibilities in various events and training scenarios, and are more versatile.

To be honest, a friend asked me before, do the group class coaches in the gym outside and the wildball players in the gym count? In fact, as long as they obtain the official coaching qualification for the corresponding special event, they themselves fall into the category of special coach. They are not considered an additional category and are in line with the current classification logic.
