There is no absolute permanence. How long it lasts depends entirely on how you "use" your body after correction.

I have been doing posture adjustment for five or six years, and among the students I have come into contact with, there is a young man who is the most exaggerated. When he first came to me, his chest was so hunched that he looked like he was carrying a small package on his back. His height was measured at 171. After adjusting his posture and returning his spine, the measurement on the spot was 174.8, a difference of almost 4 centimeters. He was so happy at the time, saying that he finally met the height limit for civil servants. But after he landed, he was busy with pre-job training, sitting for more than ten hours a day writing materials. When he got home, he would lie down on the soft sofa in the rental house and shoot short videos. He would cross his legs for two hours. He came back to me for a review six months later and found that his height had dropped back to 172, and he had shrunk back more than half of his previous height.

Of course, not everyone is like this. Last year, a junior high school teacher came to me for adjustments. She always stood and gave lectures with her center of gravity leaning on one foot, and her pelvis was tilted forward, which made her legs short. After the adjustment, she was 2.3 centimeters taller. She deliberately raised the height of the desk by two centimeters. She deliberately tightens her core while standing in class, and when she has free time, she does the 3-minute standing pose activation I taught her. It’s been almost two years now, and the last time I met her, she said that she has basically never lost her height when she was measured. She even looks taller when wearing the same flat shoes than when she was just adjusted, and her whole body is much more stretched.

Why are there two completely different results? In fact, many people have misunderstandings about posture correction and heightening. They think that it is like doing surgery to lengthen and fix your bones. In fact, it is not at all - the problems that ordinary people have such as high and low shoulders, forward head extension, straightening of spinal curvature, and pelvic tilt are caused by bad habits. They are essentially muscle tension. Imbalance pulls the joints out of normal alignment, which is equivalent to "folding" the height that should be stretched and hiding part of it. What posture correction does is to relax the tense muscles, strengthen the weak muscles, return the joints to their original position, and release the hidden height. This is actually similar to ironing a wrinkled shirt. After you iron it, fold it neatly and put it in the closet every day. Be careful not to rub or rub it when you wear it, and it will stay crisp. ; If you just crumple it into a ball after ironing it and stuff it in your bag, it will definitely wrinkle again after wearing it for two days. You can’t blame the iron for not ironing it to make it permanently stiff, right?

There is a lot of controversy on the Internet about this issue now. Some people say that postural correction and heightening are permanent. In fact, what they are saying is that if you can turn the corrected force-exerting habits into muscle memory, and you can maintain the correct posture when sitting, standing or walking without deliberately reminding yourself, then this height can indeed be maintained forever. From this perspective, there is nothing wrong with saying "permanent"; But if you hold the idea of "correcting once for a lifetime" and continue to work on your body after the adjustment, then let alone permanent, it can be considered good if it lasts for three months.

If you really want to keep your height, you don’t need to spend hours exercising every day. You should cross your legs less often, don’t slump when sitting, and hold your phone up to eye level when you check it. If you pay attention to these small details, it’s better than anything else.
